Temple of Atargatis, Faqra

On the right bank of the stream "Nabaa Laban" which joins the river Nahr el Kalb. The dedication to Atargatis comes from an inscription of the 2nd century A.D. A Christian basilica on the north wall was removed in 1961/2¹. Taylor notes a basin sunk in the floor, which Aliquot points out was originally pagan, but was used as a font in the Christian basilica².
