Temple of Adonis, Faqra

The "large" temple¹, Aliquot's "Grand Sanctuaire (C)". There are similarities both to structures at Palmyra and to the temples at Chhim and Niha. The attribution to Adonis appears to be wholly uncertain. A small altar with a dedicatory inscription to Zeus Heliopolitanus found in the cella also cannot be taken as necessarily giving a firm dedication to the temple².
