Annotations

From the year 233, the relatively stable times for the border residents were a thing of the past. In the course of a first Alamanni invasion Abusina was destroyed again. More waves of Alamannic loot and conquest followed, until in the year 260 the Roman frontier in Raetia collapsed almost completely and the province sank into chaos. Also Eining was burned again in this last Alamanni storm. Numerous hoard finds, including the famous "Verwangfund von Eining".The hoard of Eining was plowed in 1975 and It was documented by Hans-Jörg Kellner and is now in the Archäologische Staatssammlung München. The deposit of Eining belongs to the treasure finds of Weissenburg and Straubing to the most important archaeological discoveries in Bavaria and contains parts of Roman parade armor. Among other things, it contained, in whole or in part, an Oriental-type face helmet, three bronze occipital helmets, four greaves, and five headguards for horses.
