Yammouneh Temple

Limited remains at the spring Nabaa el Arbaain. There is a lake to the east but it appears to have dried up, at least in the current Google Earth image. Probably east facing. A winged solar disc and a statue of Venus Heliopolitana found by grave robbers are now in the Baalbek museum. A statue of a pastoral god¹ , possibly Mercury in the form Hermes Kriophorus, though the lamb is in the crook of his elbow, not over his shoulder, has also been found, as also an altar dedicated to Jupiter Heliopolitanus, so the temple should have been dedicated to the familiar Heliopolitan triad, Jupiter, Venus, Mercury². Taylor reports a myth that when Typhon made war against the heavens, it was at Yammouneh, but gives no source or reference for it³.
