Annotations

The Muwatalli Relief  near Sirkeli village is carved on a rock wall facing the Ceyhan (ancient Puruna and Pyramos) river about 5 m above the water level. Its identified thanks to the isncroption: "Muwatalli, Great King, the Hero, (son of) Mursili, Great King, the Hero", who moved the capital from Hattusa to Tarhuntassa, as yet of unknown location. Muwatallis II the eldest son of Mursili II (r. c. 1321-1295 BC) and Queen Gassulawiya, reigned c. 1295–1272 BC.
