data access 11297

Thucydides (v. 61) the Arcadian Orchomenus Ὀρχομενός ὁ Ἀρκαδικός, to distinguish it from the Boeotian. According to Pausanias  Orchomenus became founder of both the town called Methydrium and of Orchomenus1. There is a sanctuary of Artemis, surnamed Hymnia, standing on the borders of Orchomenus, near the territory of Mantineia. Artemis Hymnia has been worshipped by all the Arcadians from the most remote period 2.
