Thucydides (v. 61) the Arcadian Orchomenus Ὀρχομενός ὁ Ἀρκαδικός, to distinguish it from the Boeotian. According to Pausanias Orchomenus became founder of both the town called Methydrium and of Orchomenus1. There is a sanctuary of Artemis, surnamed Hymnia, standing on the borders of Orchomenus, near the territory of Mantineia.
