Cendere: name of a little river and a place, site of a Roman bridge, built by the Sixteenth legion Flavia Firma. http://www.livius.org/cb-cf/cendere/cendere.html.

Bridge over Nymphaios [modern Turkish Cendere] near the ancient city of Arsameia, was built by the Romans in honour of Emperor Septimius Severus, his wife Julia Domna, and their sons Caracalla and Publius Septimius Geta as it is described in Latin on the columns. The Legio XVI Gallica, garrisoned in the ancient city of Samosata constructed the bridge at the beginning of the IInd century, ca 211 AD. The existing bridge probably replaced an earlier bridge, built during the reign of Emperor Vespasian; in the years 69-79 BC.
