BARGYLIA

Bargylia was an ancient  Carian city on the coast of Caria in southwestern Anatolia between Iasos and Myndus. According to the leged the city  have been founded by Bellerophon in honour of his friend Bargylos who had been killed by by a blow from Pegasus, his winged horse. Stephanus of Byzantium recorded the name Andanos and attributes her  foundation to Achilles¹.
