Bargylia was an ancient Carian coastal city in southwestern Anatolia between Iasos and Myndus. According to the leged the city was founded by Bellerophon in honour of his friend Bargylos who had been killed by a blow from Pegasus, his winged horse. Stephanus of Byzantium recorded the name Andanos and attributes its foundation to Achilles1.
