Major Kushan-Sasanian site. Extensive area of stupas, monasteries and artificial caves, in mostly Greco-Buddhist style (1500 ha). Excavated by Barthoux (DAFA, 1926-28). Badly damaged during Afghan civil war.

Tepe Shutur, Hadda

Indo-Scythian, Kushan-Sasanian, Kidarite and Buddhist Sarvastivadin stupa-monastery complex. Damaged by arson and looted in 1992, during Afghan civil war.
