Annotations

These baths are the best-preserved private-use baths in all of Catalonia. They were built in the late 2nd century AD on top of an amphora factory, and they were in full operation until the 5th century. During the 18th century, a house was built on top of the baths, which protected them until they were discovered by a group of local archaeologists in 1956.

Currently, after several archaeological interventions and meticulous museum presentation, this complete thermal building can be rediscovered in all its glory, allowing visitors to get a fairly accurate idea of how they functioned.

The structure consists of two parallel bodies in which the cold and hot chambers are respectively located. The cold chambers house the changing room, a hall, and a cold pool. The hot chambers comprise a lukewarm room, a steam bath room, and a hot bath room.
