The bath was built at the entrance to the harbour in the 4th century AD or in the first half of the 5th century AD. In 1962, while the old and narrow Mersin-Antalya road was widened, a part of the bath was demolished. Fortunately fifth century mosaics survived. Well preserved mosaic depicts the panorama of the city with thermae and harbour in which are two ships and some buildings.
