The House of the Dolphins is located in the Theater district, at the foot of Mount Kynthus. In the corridor of the house we find a mosaic floor with the symbol of the Phoenician deity Tanit. From the corridor we pass into the atrium which was decorated with a mosaic of Asclepiades from the Phoenician city of Arado. In each of the four triangles formed between the εντραλ circle and the square frame of the mosaic, Eros is depicted leading a pair of dolphins. Each Eros also holds a symbol of a god: the thyrsus of Dionysus, the trident of Poseidon, the caduceus of Hermes and the club of Hercules. Because the dolphin that Eros leads with the thyrsus holds a wreath on its snout, we assume that it is also the winner of the event.
