Roman villa at Realmonte was discovered in 1907 during construction works for a local railway line. The baths with ornamental mosaics and a peristyle garden with a semicircular fountain with marble were unearthed at the beginning, In 1979-1985 some parts of the villa were unvovered by Japanese archaeologists The recent excavations directed by Dr. Davide Tanasi uncovered walls, floor levels, staircase and water channel.
