Annotations

Kayışlar Höyük is a mound locate approximately 900 meters north of Kayışlar Village, northeast of Manisa Province. It is locally known as Çayırlar, The hill measures 80 x 50 meters and its height is 3-4 meters. It is a small and flat mound with these dimensions.

A field survey was carried out by David French in 1959. French noted that there was a swamp in the west of the hill and a village road passed from the east. The earliest ceramic finds date back to the late Chalcolithic period. Troy I type wares, red burnished, gray-black burnished, black burnished, red slipped Early Bronze Age sherds were collected from the surface.

The site was probably continuously inhabited in the Early, Middle and Late Bronze Age.
