Annotations

The prism was found in a 1922 expedition in Larsa in modern-day Iraq by British archaeologist Herbert Weld Blundell and is housed in The Ashmolean Museum - number is AN1923.444. The Sumerian King List illustrates the Middle Bronze Age political scene. It is a list of the Sumerian and neighboring dynasties. This document contains the supposed reign lengths and  ruled territories. Nevertheless, it is not a pure historical document but  a combination of myth, legend and historical information.
