Stela dedicated to Tanit A 2nd c. CE stela from the region around Makhtar, Tunisia. The feminine figure at the top of the stela resembles other local representations of the goddess Tanit, making it likely that she was the recipient of this stela. The figure at the bottom, very likely the dedicator, wears a toga, hinting at his Roman citizenship. The lower part of the stela takes the form of a temple façade, and plays an interesting trick with the perspective: the coffers on the bottom of the architrave, which would usually not be visible in a frontal view of the façade, are presented as if they were placed on the front face of the architrave. The stela comes from the depot of the Bardo Museum in Tunis, but is in the Museum of the Institut du Monde Arabe as of 7 January 2025, when it was photographed.

Relief from Bahrain depicting a boy This 2nd-3rd c. CE relief from the al-Maqsha necropolis in Bahrain depicts a young boy, who is the deceased person being commemorated, standing within an aedicule. The boy's young age is symbolised by him holding a dove and a bunch of grapes. The relief comes from the depot of the National Museum of Bahrain, inv. no. A11455 (or A18157?), but was on display at the museum of the Institut du Monde Arabe as of 7 January 2025, when it was photographed.
