During the excavations (since 2016) at Beşiktaş metro station construction  the layers belonging to seven different periods have been identified, namely the Republican, Ottoman, Byzantine, Roman, Greek, Early Bronze and Chalcolithic periods. terracotta potsherds dated to Chalcolithic period (fifth millenium) were found. 46 kurgan tombs date back to the beginning of the Bronze Age (3500-3000  BC) was found at a depth of eight meters.
