In the Bible it is called Qer Harreseth or Kir of Moab. II Kings 16:9 The king of Assyria granted his request and, marching on Damascus, captured it; he deported its population to Kir and put Razon to death.
Amos 1:5: I shall break the gate-bar of Damascus, I shall destroy the inhabitant of Bikath-Aven, the holder of the sceptre in Beth-Eden, and the people of Aram will be deported to Kir, Yahweh says.
