Annotations

The bazalt satue of Asatiwasus was found in 1985 during the construction work at the Maras citadel  The loer part  of the statue is about 0.5 meters high and 0.25 meters wide on each side. The three sides of the statue covers a five line Luwian inscription. It is a building inscription with the dedication of  Asatiwasu own statue. Asitawasu was an official of a ruler,  probably Halparuntiya III, whose name is lost in the break. The suggested date is ca 800 BC. The statue is on display in Kahramanmaraş Museum. Hawkins MARAŞ 14.
