Harput Telief was discovered on 3 May 2016 in the forest of Elgazi. It was made ca 2000 BC. The whole slab was divided vertically into two main parts. The left in fifth leveled records the siege with a huge wheeled wooden siege tower.

The castle was built by the Kingdom of Urartu. From the 6th century BC it came under Persian rule. Between the 1st century BC and the 14th century AD it was under the Parthian, Roman, Sassanid, Byzantine and Abbasid rule.
