Annotations

One of the most important cities of the vaccaei, attacked by Hannibal in 220 BC. Occupied by Statilius Taurus before the Cantabrian Wars during Augustus imperium.

The Romans built a stone bridge to cross the Duero river passing through the city, and in the valley, south of the Roman bridge, still remain some milestones and little remains of a Roman road.

From the vaccaei still remains an altar shaped granite bull having two holes in his head, presumably to put some metal horns, and whose back is flat like a table or platform for sacrifices.
