Annotations

The naval Battle of Alalia took place some time between 540 BC and 535 BC off the coast of Corsica between Greeks and the allied Etruscans and Carthaginians. The combined forces of 120 ships clashed with the Phocaian fleet of 6 penteconters. The battle resulted in Cadmean victory of Greeks and Punic-Etruscan strategic victory. Greek expansion was stopped and limited their expansion in the western Mediterranean.
