Khirbet et-Tannur placed ca 70 kilometers north of Petra was Nabatean  hilltop open-air sanctuary. Originally it was a simple altar on the top of hill. Located on the caravan road from Petra it developed into a complex aroud the altar by adding a temple, colonnades, and additional. Sanctuary existed from the IIIrd century BC till fourth century AD.
