  • We are inclined to think that Anaxibius at least came by our track; for the outpost of Abydos called KREMASTE, which is mentioned in Xenophon's account of his last stand, can hardly be other than the fortified trachyte crag of GAVUR HISAR which commands a defile of the Koca Cay 16 km. walk from Abydos.   -   Cook (1973) p. 290
