Annotations

Adramytteion (Greek: Ἀδραμύττειον Adramyttion, Latin: Adramyttium), is an ancient city located in Lydia.  According to Aristotle, According to tradition Adramytteion  was founded by, and named after, Adramys, the son of King Alyattes of Lydia, and  brother of King Kroisos. Throughout history, as a result of the attacks on the city from the sea, the city was moved to the inner land. The name of Adramytteion was latertransformed into "Edremit". The most important source regarding the establishment of the city of Adramytteion is the information of Stepphanos Byzantinos (5th century AD)
