The original bridge, which was restored in 2011, has not survived to the present day. The bridge, which has been in use since Rome, is thought to have been restored during the Sekjuk and Ottoman empires. Its current name is known as Bloody Bridge. It is stated in many sources that it was named the Bloody Bridge because the Turks massacred in the 1915 Armenian Revolt were thrown off this bridge.
