Carnuntum, Mithreum I

Mithreum I  was between Bad Deutsch-Altenburg and Petronell, near the Steinbruchs (Am Stein) on the northern slope of the Pfaffenberg. In an inscription, Mithras is called the "genitor luminis" - creator of light . According to Eduard von Sacken not very detailed report, Mithreums have had a semicircular ground plan.
