Colophon [Kolophon] - Tholos Tomb

The Tholos Tomb at Kolophon was excavated in 1922 by Betty Goldman.  No trace of the tomb is visible, and no datable sherds were found in the area in 1972. The tomb has a chamber 3,87 m in diameter. The masonry technique of the walls existed in 1922 as high as 1.70 m above the surfice of the tomb, can be paralleled both on he main land and in Crete from Late Helladic I down to Archaic times. A. J. B. Wace characterizes the tomb as being of the Third Late Minoan period¹.
