The Proconessus marble quarry has been famous for its marble for centuries. There are large-scale marble works, most of which are semi-processed and allow the stages of marble processing to be followed. Especially during the Roman and Byzantine Empires, the quarries, where marble production was quite intense, produced architectural and sculpture works and shipped them to the Anatolian, Adriatic, Mediterranean and Black Sea coasts.
