Underwater remains of a basilica church dedicaterd to St. Neophytos The basilica was discovered by aerial photography, but the place is mentioned in ancient sources that basilica was built on behalf of 16 years old Saint Neophytos who was killed by a Roman soldier on the shores of Lake Iznik during the time of Roman emperor Diocletian in 303.1 . It is three naves basilica. The church’s remains are similar to the Hagia Sophia in İznik. That is why it estimated to haven been built in the fifth century A.D and subsequently became submerged after an earthquake 740 (buried in the depths of the lake has been forgotten)
