Greeks offered this tripod as a votum to the oracle of Delphi, after the victory over the Persians in 479 B C. Later it was moved to Constantinople ca 330 AD. Platean tripod was described by, Herodotus, Thucydides, Demosthenes, Diodorus Siculus, Pausanias, Cornelius Nepos, and Plutarch.
