Excavation of this Graeco-Bactrian city started in 2004. It is probably identical to Alexandria ad Oxum, although Ai Khanum in Afghanistan is another candidate. That Kampyr Tepe was founded by Alexander the Great, is uncontested.

Kushan, High Medieval and post-Mongol large settlement on the Amu-Darya northern terrasse. Square citadel, with an western extension, partially eroded and cut by gullies. Studied by Arshavskaja, Rtveladze and Gendel'man (2001).
