Ein Karem, Church of the Visitation

The church was built in the mid-20th century over the ruins of earlier churches and chapels destroyed over the centuries. A huge stone set in a niche is known as the Stone of Hiding - a hiding place for the baby John during Herod’s Massacre of the Innocents
