Arad (Arvad), Sanctuary and Fortress

The fortress was sacked and rebuilt a number of times, until eventually destroyed by the Edomites in 597 BC.

In the fortress was erected the shrine, which includes an inner courtyard, sanctuary and the Holy of Holies.
