Sultantepe is identified as ancient Huzirina1.  Excavations carried out in 1951-1953 (under the direction of Seton Lloyd and Nuri Gökçe) in the mound prooved tht Sultamtepe settlement was an important city in the Assyrian Period. Within the ruins of the city an extensive archive of cuneiform texts was found. The finds are exhibited in Ankara Anatolian Civilizations Museum and Sanliurfa Museum.
