Annotations

The site of Qumran was inhabited during the Iron Age II ie. ca 700 BC. Then was deserted and resettled in the second century BC and was inhabited until it was destroyed by the fire in the middle to late first century AD. Qumran was originally excavated by Pére Roland de Vaux of the École Biblique etArcheologique Francaise in the 1950s.
