Ain Dara Temple was built on the acropolis hill in Late Hittite Period ca 1300 BC. The temple was constructed and extended during the period between 1300 and 740 BC and has clearly visible Hittite elements in its decoration. Notwithstanding the main plan of the temple measured 30 X 20 meters is thoroughly Semitic. The sanctuary consists of three rooms; a small porch, a middle room and an inner room or main hall with a surrounding magazine and utilitarian set in a precinct.The temple originally had a mudbrick superstructure now eroded away. The facade and interior walls were furnished with hundreds reliefs depicting lions, cherubim, mountain gods and other mythical creatures.
