Öküz means ox in Turkish and the site gets its name from the ox relievos of Öküzlü church. The site dates back to Hellenistic, Roman and early Byzantine eras. Prior dwellings are constucted with polygonal wall lying whereas later dwellings are constructed with well cut small stones. The site is full of dwellings, a villa rustica, wine and olive oil workshops, cisterns and astonishing church ruins. A paved Roman road is very visibli within the site.
