Ancient Carian town centre of Idyma is situated 2.3 km. N.E. of here, north of Gokova village on Küçük Asar Tepe and its slopes. This quarter of Idyma was the fortified port/harbour, the bay eventually silting up due in part to the Idymos river (Çay creek)
