The site of Etruscan Velathri was settled since the Neothithic Age. In the eight BC the Etruscans begun to settled down over the Naturally defensive town in the fourth century they surrounded with the great defensive wall, more than seven kilometres long. The mineral deposits of copper and silver in the surroundings of fertile soil and forest  allowed Velathri to devloped agriculture and industry. Velatthri became one of the dozen city states of Etruria.
