The castle of Tedeja was a roman fort built in the final part of the Occidental Imperium in order to control the movements of Cantabrii and Vasconii.  In this time also was used by the foederati visighots.

From the VIII century the ruins of the fort were rebuilt by the christians to protect their autonomous territory agains the muslim invasion of Hispania.  It is considered the fist "medieval" castle in the Kingdom of Castile.

The fort felt in the legend until the discovery of the ruins in the decade of 1980-s.
