Hidirlik Turm

Roman period tower of the II.nd century AD. Originally built on a square plan and shortly rebuilded. This two storey building is almost 14 (13,7) meters high. George E. Bean rejects sugestion that it could be lighthouse or defensive tower. He regards the form of the roud tower on the square base, whuch is characteristic of stately type of Roman tomb or mausoleum. Besides, the bundle of rods- fasces, which were the symbol of office of a Roman consul, without which the consul never appeared in public, suggests that it was the tomb of a Roman authority figure - consul or senator¹
