Norba was founded as a Latin colony in the territory of the Volsci in 492/1 B.C. It is destroyed and thereafter abandoned during the Sullan crisis in 82 B.C. The archaeological site is noted for its circuit wall in polygonal masonry and the remains of Late Republican houses, streets, and temples within the wall
