Morgantina was settled by Sikels [Greek Sikeloi], indigenuos inhabitants about 1000 BC. On the Citadela Hill they built the period’s characteridstic long houses. Construction of a Greek-style urbanised settlement in the VIth century BC indicates growing Greek influemce.
