Tell Skeikh Hamad located on the left bank of the Habur in Syria, has been identified with the Assyrian city of Dur-Katlimmu. The small settlement existed at the site in the Late Chalcolithic period. The Assyrian city of Dur-Katlimmu have been founded during the reign of Shalmaneser I (r. 1274–1245 BC or 1265–1235 BC).
