Demetrias was a Greek city in ancient Thessaly, at the head of the Pagasaean Gulf, near the modern city of Volos. It was founded in 294 BC by Demetrius Poliorcetes, who settled there peoples from Nelia, Pagasae, Ormenium, Rhizus, Sepias, Olizon, Boebe and Iolcos.
