       Tell Açana (Tell Atchana) is the modern name of the ancient site of Alalakh. The was excavated by a British team led by Sir Leonard Wolley in years 1937-1939 and after World War II 1946-1949. A second round of excavations began in 2000. Alalakh was probably destroyed by the Sea People in the 12th century BC

     The archives of Hattusa mention that Alalakh to has been destroyed during the second campaign of Hattusili I.
