The first phase of construction of the Metropol Parasol space uncovered visible remains of much of the Roman period, from Tiberius (30 AD) to the sixth century, as well as an Almohad Islamic house of the twelfth and thirteenth centuries.
The archaeological site, now a museum under the name of Antiquarium, contains all the remains found: the salted fish factory from the 1st century; the group of Roman houses and streets from the 1st to 6th centuries; the Almohad House of the Noria from the 12th/13th century; and other elements extracted such as mosaics, ovens, fountains, etc.
From the Roman period, the mosaics of the Roman House, the House of the Nymph and the House of Bacchus stand out, as well as a three-meter mural in the Ocean Courtyard. It also has the House of the Column, which contains the mosaic of the Medusa, the House of the Basas, the House of the Sigma, the House of the Noria and the Hospitium of the Dolphins.
